615-A1 & A2 have arrived back home. I will do a trek report later in
the week for the listserve. Our Trek 20 was changed to 18FM (fire
modified). This trek did not give us a peak, Tooth of Time or hike
back into basecamp. When we went through logistics we explained
that the 18FM trek did not give us any of these items. Luckly for us
there was no crews assigned to 23FM the day we were leaving
basecamp and Logistics changed our trek to 23FM.

Trek 23FM
Rayado River
Urraca
Crater Lake
Fish Camp
Bear Canyon
Wild Horse
Commanche Peak
Upper Sawmill
Hunting Lodge
Tooth Ridge Camp

This trek gave us Mt Phillips, Tooth of Time and it allowed us to
hike back into basecamp. A great trek.

I do not remember all the 18FM camps but I do recall that it started
at Olympia ( new trail camp) It also included Red Hills ( you could
do a side hike to Mt Phillips), Upper Sawmill camp. And I believe
the trek ended at Cito turnaround.

Weather conditions- very dry
No baths till day 9 at Cito
I was amazed at reduced animal sightings ( we saw very few
animals- I guess they have relocated farther from the North Country
fire.)
Fire precautions are at a extreme high. On day 10 we had to leave
Hunting Lodge at 7:30 pm due to a small fire 1 1/2 miles from
camp. That night over 400 scouts were relocated to Cito
Turnaround. The next day we bused from the turnaround to the
Cope course to climb the Tooth Ridge via the Meadow trail ( steep
and overgrowned) Apparently this trail has not been used in years.
This year Philmont is running buses to the Kit Carson Museum- A
great trip. Better than Villa Philmonte.
