Patrick Miller asked:
(Hey, wait
a minute.... in this post Wayne, you said you wanted
Gatorade ADDED to supper packets but in another post you
said your crews STRIPPED Gatorade from breakfasts when
you were repackageing meals... so why didn't you just move
some Gatorade's into your supper bags?)

Hi Patrick,

I hope I didn't say we stripped Gatorade from the breakfast packages.
Please excuse me if I did. There is no Gatorade in the breakfast meal
packages, only drink mix, similar to Kool-Ade. I believe there were 3
different flavors; grape, orange-pineapple, and orange. Since we took it
out of our meals I'm not quite sure but I believe one pouch made two
quarts. So if one partner didn't want the Kool-ade type drink mix,
someone was left carrying a half a pouch of drink mix. The drink mixes
are packaged in a flimsy cellophane pouch and tear/ burst open easily.
The Gatorade is in an aluminum foil type pouch. These drink mixes were
the "sugar" drink for our meals. Some of the breakfasts had Swiss Miss
Cocoa or Apple Cider Mix instead. None of the suppers we got had any
type of drink included. None at all. The lunch packages usually had 2
one quart packages of Gatorade.

The first things our guys looked for in the swap boxes at the
commissaries at Phillip's Junction and Ute Gulch was any flavor
Gatorade. Well, actually the first thing they looked for was the
Strawberry Crème Pie dessert but the Gatorade packages were grabbed
quickly also. The Gatorade packages were a good trade item among our
crew. Once I saw a 1 quart Gatorade package swapped for a package of
Chip's Ahoy Cookies and 2 packages of Squeeze Peanut Butter!
At both swap boxes, there were many, many packages of drink mix but very
few Gatorade packages.
