This is second hand information from my son who is a ranger this year. He
was in the Valle before Memorial Day, said it was growing back nicely. Got
caught in a hail storm, which turned black from the ash on the ground. He
dropped his second crew off at Pueblano, then went up to Wilson Mesa, rubbed
it in on how beautiful it was (we decided not to go there in 2000). No
mention of bug problems, but said they have gotten rain daily. He did say
there have been more sightings of cougars this year, 10 so far.
Going out for a visit in 4 weeks, his mother would like to see what the
magic is.
