[Philmont]: Equiiment list?

I was reading the "Equipment Provided by Crew" list in the Guidebook to adventure and found the "3 fiftyFt 1/8 nylon cord"

What is this used for? Why would I need it?

Will the 6 quart pot be large enough for a crew of ten? or do we need the 8 qt.?

Leaving on the 6th for a 708 trek 10.
