Every once in a while I see a post that makes me go "Huh?" What is the 50 foot length of cord used for, one of those things in the ten essentials list?
That, and the compass, are among the few items in the 10 essentials I use on virtually every backpack (in 35 years, I still haven't used my space blanket, thankfully, salt tablets aren't on the list anymore :-).
If nothing else, hang the bear bag. Or hang the laundry to dry. Or use a piece of it to tie something on that came loose and shouldn't have. or...
Anyway, maybe I am missing something and this refers to something other than the 50 length of cord for the 10 essentials...
  Regards
  Don Roberts
