RE: [Philmont]: Off topic Digital Photos question

My personal experience with DVD players is that, similar to computer program
upgrades, something that was created in the earlier version may be opened
and used in the newer version, but usually not vice versa. For example
something saved in Word 3.0 (remember back then?) can be opened in Word XP.
But a Word XP doc cannot be opened in Word 3.0. My experience with DVD
players has been similar. They will play the "lesser" version CD, but a
dedicated CD player cannot play a DVD. Of course this is all based on my
personal experience level of knowledge and not really hearing from a tech
person.

Subject: [Philmont]: Off topic Digital Photos question

On our recent trek I took over 1100 digital pictures. Does anyone know if
it is possible to copy these pictures to a CD for viewing through a DVD
player? I can burn them to a CD and view them on monitors through a
computer easy enough but believe there's some way to use the DVD player to
show them. My DVD manual says it will recognize version 2 VCDs but I don't
know if I can use a CD burner, which I have, or need a DVD burner, which I
don't have, to copy the jpeg files to the VCD. Any advice will be
appreciated.

I know this is off topic but I'm sure there are several Philmont trekkers
who would be interested in doing this. Thanks.
