We have been practicing compacting during all our training hikes and we
will continue to do so at Philmont. Our boys have actually turned it
into a contest to see who can get everything into the smallest possibly
package. I'd encourage everyone on the list to do the same and to tell
others. This sounds ridiculous! It's just common sense to minimize the
size of your trash, without being extreme about it. I do it at home as
well.

I had a chance to talk to Brad Jones (now a staffer at Miner's Park)
just before I went to summer camp, and he confirms that the trash bins
are indeed overflowing all over the Ranch, and that the "normally"
scheduled pickups are not keeping up.
