I spent 3 days in Taos last month before I picked up my son from NJ.
I've been following this fire as best I could through Taos News and
other New Mexico web sites.
When I visited the Pueblo, it was interesting to learn that many of
tribe would take "treks" into the wilderness that is burning now,
especially when they were teenagers. Sound familiar? One of the most
common was a trek to Blue Lake, the source of the water for the Pueblo.
This fire is contaminating their water supply and burning some of
their sacred areas. It's really heartbreaking.
