Presuming the lack of trash compaction is still a problem for staff at
staffed camps in a couple of weeks, I guess this Advisor will have
something to say on his evaluation to become a squeaky wheel for them...
Like virtually everything in life, good can be corrupted (compacting trash
for all the reasons it should be done becoming a vehicle for possible
harassment). But the solution is not to abandon the good, it is to deal
with the abuses. Trash compaction certainly should be taught and
encouraged by the Rangers. Trash (probably in any condition, with at most
a polite comment about the condition) should be accepted by staff - which
as Jason noted and I believe has been the policy since the bear incidents
in the beginning of the 2001 season and was my experience later that
summer.
And I guess I will be talking to the member of the Ranch Committee I know
(certainly NOT a "blue coat").
Not that I needed it to get in the mood for Philmont, but saw two bears on
the way to work yesterday. On a plane two weeks from today....
