(not having my map with me, but having installed a log check dam there just
last week)
The conservation project is to restore a trail that starts off the road
between the horse corral and the west-ish Trail Peak trail. Trees are being
cut to provide logs for new drainage and erosion control devices. The
project is about a 45 minute walk from the Beaubien cabin. Project start
times run from 8 am to 2 pm. Since the project was halfway to Trail Peak, we
did our project from 8 am to 11 am, and then continued on our hike to Trail
Peak over the next few hours.
By the way, the "new" west approach trail to Trail Peak has a very nice 8%
grade.
