[Philmont]: Former Philmont Scout transporting a crew toward Philmont

  Today July 31st a crew that left Lansing Michigan on a Delta flight 6274
heading for a Cincinnati connecting flight to Philmont were treated to a
ride by a former Philmont hiker (1991).

  My son is captain with Atlantic Coast Airlines aka Delta Connection just
called me to tell me he has just carried his first Philmont bound crew.

  He said he had asked the flight attendant to ask the leader to go forward
to the cockpit as the captain wanted to speak to him when they were
boarding. He said the person was a little confused when he went forward and
found himself in a Philmont conversation. In retrospect my son said he may
have confused the person by asking him to speak to the captain but he was
glad they spoke.

  I particularly remember coming back from Philmont in 1991 and having a
number of Philmont conversations in the St Louis airport. Now is a good
time to hear the stories from those fresh off the trail who also spoke with
a stranger they met while travel to or from Philmont. I am sure they too
heard from others who have moved on from their scouting days but still hold
the Philmont experience as a special time.
