Susan,

I think it comes down to a personal decision. I was at Philmont on Memorial
Day this year, and there was lots of water. Even then, some of it was very
dirty with mud, and other particles. By using a water purifier, you and your
boys get clean safe water they can drink instantly. We use the First Need
purifier, and get clean safe water as fast as we can pump it. Several crews using
Polar Pure asked to use opr two pumps in the backcountry. They did not like
drinking dirty water saturated with Polar Pure. The contact time is too long,
based on water temperature, were reasons they used. Waltonfeed.com has a good
price on the purifiers, it is identical to the units at REI.

Remember : We are in this program for the boys.......let them lead
