Susan

Just returned from Philmont.  We carried MSR filters and used them frequently.  While we visited many staff camps the sulphur taste at IW and the over use of chlorine prompted our crews to pump from the streams rather than use water from the faucets.  Also most crews don't use the polar pure properly and the use of polar pure creates a smellable container.   I have used the MSR filters for two treks and a trip to YSP.  My son did the YSP trip and has over 75 days in the backcountry at Philmont.  We have never had a problem with the filters.

If you do use a filter tie a bandana folded into quarters over the intake to reduce the need for cleaning.
