As has been posted several times this season, and many times in past
years, a primary purpose for camp shoes is to reduce wear and tear on
the campsites. A sneaker/mocassin/Aqua shoe/whatever tends to have a
much less aggressive tread versus a hiking boot.

This has perhaps been even more important over the past decade, where
the ongoing drought conditions on the Ranch has reduced natural campsite
recovery to a crawl. Improved campsite recovery is (hopefully) one of
the silver linings to the copious amounts of rain the Ranch has
"enjoyed" so far this year.
