The FairShare Mug looks like it's plenty big enough. We looked at them before going to Philmont earlier this summer and decided they were too bulky and therefore decided to stick with a set of stackable (GSI Outdoors) plastic bowls (same set we used in Northern Tier last year). They take little space (all stacked in 1 pile), weight very little (<3 oz?) and are cheap yet durable (still useable for several treks to come). Everyone gets the same thing every evening, so no need to sort through the pile to find "my bowl" - they all get sterilized before use. And best of all, they are easy to lick clean without getting food on your face or hands.
Cups: We took a set of matching cups to Philmont but left most of them at the base (at the suggestion of our ranger). I don't think anyone used any of the 2 or 3 cups we did take along (I'd leave them all home next time). To measure water for meals, we used the marks on a Nalgene bottle.
Everyone simply drank (water) out of their nalgenes (everyone lived without coffee for the trip so we didn't have to worry about coffee cups). Gatorade was also mixed in nalgenes (and isolated for bearbag in evening).
Another post on using common bowls to avoid a scramble to have everyone get their mess kit out is a good point too. They all stay together and are packed in 1 pack as a set.

Subject: RE: [Philmont]: eating gear
I have a new "FairShare" lexan mug
(http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=128427)
"The FairShare(tm) Mug is constructed of nearly indestructible Lexan(r) resin. Holds 32 fl. ozs., with graduated measurements. Sure-sealing threaded lid prevents leaks during packing / travel and insulates. It doubles as a mug and a bowl, and it's easy cleaning. Measures 5 1/10 x 5" and weighs 6 3/5 ozs."
I've just used it for the first time last week on an overnight. I was able to squeegee the chunks out with my finger, but definitely not as easy as a low rim plastic bowl. My thought was to use it as a bowl and a cup. I though the generous size would be an advantage but it does take up some space in the pack so I'm having second thoughts on the strategy after reading some other messages on this thread. I was thinking of using the interior space to hold a small ditty bag for smellables, but haven't had a chance to see if that's practical yet.
Any other thoughts, pro or con?
Thanks
