RE: [Philmont]: Supper Cleanup in 2004

Before we went to Philmont this year, we were debating the Turkey Bags
method.

Now that I have been through Philmont, I don't really see the advantage of
Turkey Bags.

We cooked all of our meals in a single pot (exception - cheesecake was made
separately). Cooking it all together worked fine and assured that everyone
ate some green beans. We sumped the pot thoroughly - there never seemed to
be quite enough food to satisfy everyone, so this was not a big deal. With a
little water, the cook pot was very clean. We followed the procedures, but
there was never more than a few particles to go in our YumYum bag. We
carried the same YumYum bag the entire trek, because there was virtually
nothing in it, except scrubbies.

If we used Turkey Bags, they would not have been as easy to sump as the pot,
and then there would be bags to carry - clean ones and dirty ones.

CHEESECAKE - we were wondering what to do with this, and our Sister Crew
from South Florida told us that it fits in the lid of the large pot. That
worked great. We made this process even easier by mixing the cake in a
ziplock bag. Put the ingredients in, zip, and squish around until you can
feel that it is mixed consistently. Pour into pot lid, sprinkle with
topping, and enjoy thoroughly. We even pulled some extra cheesecake from the
swap box because we enjoyed it so much.

Thanks,
Scott Sibley
