RE: [Philmont]: Bus into Cimarron

The current bus schedule is as follows:

Departs Philmont - 11:00 am; 1:30 pm; 3:30 pm
Returns from Cimarron - 1:45 pm; 3:45 pm; 6:45 pm (the 6:30 pm return
time was recently changed to 6:45 pm)

The Villa Philmonte tour starts every 30 minutes (and lasts at least 45
minutes), with the last tour starting at 4:00 pm. Hence, if you want to
tour the villa AND go out in town on the day your trek ends, you will
need to schedule the villa tour at or before 2:30 pm (and that would be
cutting it close, with the required walk from the villa to the Welcome
Center to catch the bus). Although this was our plan, when we tried to
make reservations at noon the same day, the tours were full through 4:00
pm. Lesson Learned - Make reservations (at the Philmont/Seton Museum)
BEFORE you go on the trail (or do the villa tour before you go on the
trail, although it is hard to fit in with all of the in-processing).

Philmont and several Cimarron businesses sponosor this free service.
The
bus schedule is posted all over base camp - they go out and back three
times
a day. The last run into Cimarron leaves from base camp at 3:30 and
the
last trip back leaves Cimarron at 6:30.
