RE: [Philmont]: Bus into Cimarron

On the day after we came off the trail, we had to wait until 3:00 to catch
the Raton-Amtrak bus,
so we had a full day to kill. We arranged to "charter" a bus into Cimarron
at 8:30 AM for $17.50,
checked out the St. James hotel and the shops before they were crowded with
Scouts, and
caught the regular 11:00 bus back to the Welcome Center. We then had lunch,
caught the
1:00 tour of Villa Philamonte (we made reservations before going on the
trail), and had
plenty of time to catch our 3:00 bus to Raton. Ask about bus "charters" at
the Welcome Center;
it was nice to work around our schedule instead of the bus schedule.
