See if you have a copy of the "Guidebook to Adventure"
Sometime this year, you will get an advance copy of the 2004 issue
Then next spring you will get the 2005 version
It has a list of what everyone should bring
What Philmont will supply the crew
What the crew must bring
And the recommended First Aid Kit
Backpacks are the only personal gear I know that you can rent
Tents and cooking gear are crew gear and they are supplied
Plus water purifier and TP and other stuff
(My crews usually use them but not everyone does)
What a Scout actually needs is far les than your parents are probably
imagining right now
If you don't have a "Guidebook to Adventure"
Call betty, the camping registrar, an she will send you one
Then you can show your parents what is actually needed.
