You know, it just occurred to me that the people on this list must be
the best advised people on what the rules are for shipping
stoves/flying with stoves/buying stoves. Knowing that stoves are not as
common of a thing to try to take on an airplane (compared to, say, ski
poles, I'll bet that you folks are now better informed than the average
gate clerk, UPS clerk, post office worker,etc on the subject.

Read this as: they might tell you something that isn't true when you
get to the gate and take your stove away.

If this happens, remember that stoves are relatively inexpensive and
not worth throwing a fit over. The last thing any of us wants is to be
traveling in our uniform some time and have the clerk say "oh, a Scout,
eh? Last Scout I had in here was a real jerk about a stove."
