Hello:
As our Ranger pointed out, be sure and keep the rubber spatula and the small camp shovel separated and don't mistakenly use the shovel for cleaning out your cooking pots. That would be a really bad thing.
Thanks much,
Mick Meyer

Subject: Re: [Philmont]: Equipment that cannot be rented
Additionally, Philmont will let you borrow (free) a nylon dining fly and
poles, bear bag ropes, frisbee sump, rubber spatula, and a camp shovel
(for digging catholes). Of note, all borrowed equipment must be
thoroughly cleaned and inspected for turn-in, which can delay
out-processing.
Philmont gives you (no need to return) pastic bags (yum-yum bags),
Camp-Suds, Hand Sanitizer, cleaning scrubbie (to be cut into ten
pieces), and toilet paper (from the commissary).
White gas can be purchased by the ounce at Packs & Gas, and containers
of fuel (including Powermax cartridges) can be purchased at the Trading
Post.

Tents, bear bags, cooking pots, utensils, Polar Pure, dining fly, and
other
essential gear is included in the price. I know of nothing else that
can be
borrowed at Philmont. Maybe from this list, or from other local
sources.
You can rent packs, for sure, at Philmont. As I recall, about $12.
All else is the responsibility of the Scout. Good luck. Great of you
to
take Scouts from McAllen. Ask for help, you just might get it.
