Al: Your information coincides with what our Ranger knew as well. The
location would be perfect base to run a SAR (or Wilderness Survival)
Program. Teaching both programs, I wish we had something like it here in
our home Council!
   However, by a long shot, Carson was the most pristine LNT camp we saw on
our trek. If I were on Philmont Conservation Staff, I'd worry about the
impact of making Carson a staffed camp. Especially since they'll inevitably
build a staff cabin and have multiple crew campsites (as opposed to the
rather discreet four they have now.)
