We used Turkey bags last year in this manner:
Boil water in one pot
Line 2nd pot with a Turkey bag, hold open with 3 wooden clothes pins
(plastic will melt)
Put dry ingredients in Turkey bag
Measure boiling water into Turkey bag and mix
Twist Turkey bag closed in let sit for about 5 minutes
If you need to make two items (i.e. mashed potatoes):
Lift Closed Turkey bag out of pot, line with another Turkey bag and repeat
above steps.
We carried 15 Turkey bags on our Trek and had one left over when we
returned.
Get the large bags, I believe they come 4 to a box. Take them out of the
boxes and store them in a zip lock bag.

Subject: [Philmont]: Turkey Bags
Regarding Turkey bags (and I know this has been covered in the past), please
explain their use. I know several on here have suggested using them on the
trek, but maybe someone could explain which ones to buy, how they're used,
etc. A little Turkey Bag 101, if you will.
We're leaving in less than three weeks and could easily bring them if we
deem them appropriate.
