We used turkey bags last year at Philmont and again this summer at Red River Gorge. We put a couple inches of water in the bottom of our 8 qt pot (cleanup water). We then lined the pot with the turkey bag and put additional water in the bag. We boiled the whole thing, sterilized the bowls/spoons then added the dry ingredients for the meal for the crew. Stirred and let sit per directions. After the meal was done, the water in the bottom of the pot was used to clean up. We used 1 bag per meal. We did nick one bag and had a bit of extra work to clean up that night due to the food leaking into the water in the pot below the bag. Overall, it worked pretty well.
