Re: [Philmont]: Trading post hours - Villa tours - misc. questions

Dave, lets see....

Trading Post hours are 7:30 am - 7:00 pm. At 7:00 pm everything shuts down
for religious services for 1 hour.

I believe Villa tours are 8am - 5pm.

Dinner for trailbound crews is at 5:00pm, and 5:45pm for homebound crews.

Squeezing in a tour before you leave for the trail, either on Day 1 or 2
will depend on your outbound bus time and how quickly your Ranger gets you
through the required base camp "stuff". You can request a later bus when you do
your trip planning at logistics.

Again doing program on Day 2 will depend on your Ranger and how he manages
his/your time while he conducts the required Ranger training activities once
you leave base camp.

Opening and closing campfires are at 8:30pm.

The hike from North Fork Urraca to base camp will depend on the hiking speed
of the crew. I would allow (North Fork Urraca to Base Camp) about 6-7 hours
total, and that depends on how much time you spend at The Tooth of Time. It
takes 2-3 hours from Tooth Ridge Camp to Base. Therefore the crew coming from
North Fork Urraca should be at The Tooth in about 4 hours after leaving North
Fork Urraca.

The bus leaves for Cimarron at 11:30am and 2:30pm. Once you arrive at base
camp you will need to turn in the Philmont issued equipment and you just might
want to clean-up/shower before heading for town.

Hope this helps.
