[Philmont]: Philmont 2005 Journal - ROCS

From: Sheila Brown <sbrown@arkie.net>

This is the journal (of sorts) that my 16 year old son kept during his
recent 21 day Roving Outdoor Conservation School (ROCS) Trek at
Philmont. (Note - he kept the journal 15 days before loosing the pen!)
It has not been edited, so please don't be offended. I thought he grew
up a lot after his first trek in 2003 but this was apparently the
pinnacle of life! It's interesting to hear from the youth prospective
what is important. I send this to the list with his permission.

If any of the staff are reading this list, thanks from a mom. He
learned so much during the program and is already looking for ways to
implement some of the things he learned while at ROCS at our council
camp... and a way to squeeze in another council trek and another 21
days at ROCS next summer. This is the "fun with a purpose" we've all
heard about.
