Re: [Philmont]:  Anyone carrying Water Purifiers this summer?

There is a difference between a purifier and a filter--but adding a drop or
two of bleach to the nalgenes at the end erases the difference. While
Philmont is not a 3d world country, they are concerned about some sort of virus
causing intestinal upsets (begins with an 'n', I think, but can't recall the name).
Doesn't last all that long, but from the description of one of my crew
members of her brother's ills, I'd prefer to avoid it.

We took Sweetwater Guardians, without the virus attachment. When our ranger
told us we needed virus protection in order to use it in lieu of polar pure
last summer, we simply bought a bottle of the Sweetwater bleach at the trading
post, and added drops as necessary. There weren't many occasions when we had
to pump, and fliter clogs were much reduced by allowing the silt to settle
out before we pumped.
