D.,
I had this happen to me during my Philmont physical. The nurse took my
blood pressure, then asked if I'd ever had a problem with it, because she
was getting a reading of something like 180/120. I just about freaked,
because it had always been perfectly normal. She tried a couple more time,
getting similar results, before telling me that the doctor would have to
check it out when he came in. The doctor immediately saw that she was using
the kids' cuff, tried it with the adult one, and found my blood pressure to
be a more realistic 115/65.

Speaking of blood pressure. Make sure the medical tech. who re-checks your
blood pressure is using a an "adult" cuff. We had one adult this year you
spent almost 18 hours trying to get his blood pressure into an acceptable
range. He had no previous problems, like 120/80 at home. It was not until
8am on day 2 that somebody figured out they were using a "youth" cuff on
him. When they used the "adult" cuff, and they tried 2 different ones, his
blood pressure "magically" come in line, like 125/84. I know this may be an
unusual circumstance, but sure caused his and several other peoples blood
pressure to rise. <grin> He had it re-checked when he came off the trail and
it was 120/82.
Just a heads up.

Hi:
The Philmont medical staff is serious about enforcing the maximum weight
limits.
Hi all you philmont listers:
Just FYI, on our trek this year, in late June, no one was even weighed at
medical re-check. I personally took in a physical that showed me 3 pounds
under the max for my height, and I had to have my BP checked twice, and all
they did was ask me if my weight had changed. I told them it was a little
less than the physical showed (a true statement) but they didn't check me.
Guess it depends on who does the re-check.
