You will find then noisy if you don't wash. Try laying on them as a test to
see how much noise they make? When I tried them it sounded like Thor was
very upset with me. Foot prints are smaller than the tent, this keeps the
water from rolling off the tent to the foot print and then between the floor
of the tent and the foot print it self. Try it first before washing them.
If you do wash, use warm water. IT will work better than the cold water.

Boy, sure wish I'd seen this post before we cut out the Tyvek ground sheets
last night. All six of them are a perfect 5'6" x 7'6". Sure don't want
them to shrink. Maybe we won't wash them.
Still not sure on the camp shoes. Two schools of thought on this one... 1)
bring cheap shoes/mocs for camp, or 2) wear sneakers in camp for comfort and
as a back-up in the event of boot failure. Gotta think about it a bit more.
For what it's worth, my son and I bought Teva Aqua Socks. They're still in
the box and I have the receipt so I could exchange them if necessary.
