Pete
I seem to remember you're on Trek 4, so were we. Most of us took lightweight running shoes from walmart, about 10 bucks a pair. In a pinch they could have been worn on the trail. We had a crew from SC on the same trek, some of them were wearing some type of sandal, not sure of the name, I have seen some advertised on ebay as "holey soles". (A cheap knock off of the real thing the name of which I can't remember).
I carried butt paste, only used on one person who really wouldn't have cared about the name (he was an adult).
Didn't use tyvek, that's a personal choice.
Don't forget the ibuprofen.

Boy, sure wish I'd seen this post before we cut out the Tyvek ground sheets
last night. All six of them are a perfect 5'6" x 7'6". Sure don't want
them to shrink. Maybe we won't wash them.
Still not sure on the camp shoes. Two schools of thought on this one... 1)
bring cheap shoes/mocs for camp, or 2) wear sneakers in camp for comfort and
as a back-up in the event of boot failure. Gotta think about it a bit more.
For what it's worth, my son and I bought Teva Aqua Socks. They're still in
the box and I have the receipt so I could exchange them if necessary.
