After 3 treks and considering all other options, I still believe
sneakers are the best option for camp shoes at Philmont. A lightweight
running shoe is lighter than most other options yet works well for most
camp activities.
If your camp shoes are closed toed, you can wear either your boots or
camp shoes when climbing.

Subject: [Philmont]: Shoe question again
Ok Philmont vets....
Regarding camp shoes, right now, my son and I have Tevas.... you know,
Aqua Socks. I'm questioning bringing them for camp shoes in spite of
their light weight because of many of your comments and suggestions.
We're leaning toward sneakers.
The question my son brought up, which I hadn't thought of is, what shoes
do we wear while rock climbing? Our boots or our camp shoes?
