The Weather Channel (www.weather.com) has a link for Cimarron Canyon
State Park (type in "Cimarron NM" in the search bar and look for
Cimarron Canyon SP in the recreation areas). This park is about 15
miles west of Cimarron (a couple of miles east of Eagle Nest) and is at
8,000 feet. You can get a 10-day forecast from the park page. For July
21 through July 30 the nightime lows are forecast for right at 40 degrees.
Part of the answer to your question is to ask "How warm do you sleep?"
With an outside temp of 40F it's likely to be 5 to 10 degrees warmer
inside the tent. Since I sleep warm anyway my 25-degree bag was never
used as more than a comforter for our trek in late June.
