Subject: [Philmont]: We're off!

Philmont veterans, you have been a wonderful help to Crew 724-M2 from the
Bay-Lakes Council, Wisconsin as we've planned and prepared for our first
trek to Philmont. I spoke to all the parents and a couple of the boys
tonight and the excitement is certainly in their voices.
 
We head out for Chicago by motor coach tomorrow morning where we'll meet the
train and head west to Raton. Arrival time should be around 11:00am on
Sunday. Our crew will embark on Trek 4 on Monday. The other two crews from
our Council will be doing Treks 8 & 11 respectively.
 
There have been so many responses to my seemingly endless questions. All
have been offered with the tone of helpfulness that can only be found in the
fine people who call themselves "Scout leaders". I would publicly thank
many of you by name, but in doing so, would certainly forget someone
important. Some of you, however, have gone well beyond the realm of
helpfulness, and for that, I thank you very much. I only hope that I can
repay your help by helping others who will someday be taking their first
Philmont trek, and I'm sure I will.
 
With that said, I thank you again, and I'll tell you about it when we
return.
