Brian,
I think you are referring to fire above Clark's Fork in 2002 on Tooth Ridge.
My son was there at upper clarks fork when it happened. He was allowed to
get his raingear and sleeping bag only, and then his crew had to double time
off the ridge. The staff evacuated the ridge, but they could not account for
several crews. The crews were not at the correct campsites, so Phil Staff
members had to endager themselves while looking for the errant crews.
Reason # 4,325,346 to follow the Phil plans. I also feel that the Crew
Advisors should be penalized if they violate their logistics plan.
Chas.

Several years ago (2000? – I know Dr. Bob knows about this), there was a
lightning strike that sparked a small fire along Tooth Ridge, causing Philmont
to close the entire Tooth Ridge trail
