Got back from Trek 22 a couple days ago.
I'm a warm sleeper, and my 15 degree Marmot Trestles was always too hot,
even at the Mt. Phillips campsite (elevation ~11,500?). The temperature that
night was in the low 40s, with a strong, wet wind. Most nights I slept in
just my capilene briefs, on the colder nights I'd also wear a T-shirt, but I
never zipped the bag up all the way.
My son says that his 25 degree Kelty Light Year was usually too hot too, and
he sleeps au naturel.
A couple of our Advisors brought special lightweight bag liners, and used
them on top of their bags. They claimed they slept well. Judging from the
snoring coming from their tent I'd say they were right.
If I ever get a chance to go back, I'll take a "cooler" bag and a
lightweight liner.
YMMV,
Mike

Phil,
What is the temperature at night on Trek 21? I am trying to figure out
which sleeping bag to use. I have a 20 degree or a 45 degree with a 15
degree liner. I don't mind being cool, but I sure don't want to be cold,
and it would be less weight.
Thanks

Just got back from doing 21. The diaries that are out there are pretty
good. Only change in recent years (for 2004 I think) is that you now stay
at Flume Canyon for the 2nd night on the trail and you must take the burro
so no Wilson Mesa. I don't have time right now to write up a trek report,
but if you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer.

I have read several Trek 21 Diaries that are several years old. I was
looking for one from this year and if someone has one, please e-mail it to
me. I wanted to see if there had been any changes.
