Not to start the Philmont and cell phone debate again, but just this
afternoon my wife and I got back home from a week at Philmont PTC.

My wife's mother was in the hospital, so she needed to be able to keep in
contact with home while we were at Philmont. My wife had a Verizon cell
phone and I had a Cingular cell phone.

Bottom line, you might as well leave a Verizon phone at home, no service at
all. However, my Cingular phone worked great all over the PTC area and also
across the road at Camping Headquarters.

We made a trip to Dean Cow Camp in the back country with one of the
Philmont Chaplains. Did not try to use the phone there, but we had bars
showing.
