I spent last week at Philmont PTC, and the weather was the warmest that I
have ever seen at Philmont. The most notable thing was that it did not cool
off at night as it would with the typical Philmont weather.
For sure no sleeping bag was needed. In fact there was only a couple of
nights around 3 AM in the morning when it was even necessary to pull on a
light blanket, for the most part only a sheet was needed to sleep under.
I guess that last week was warm all over the Southwest and a general heat
wave over the West Coast, so perhaps this was what was the base cause of
the above temps at Philmont. Last Friday there was a pretty good general
rain over the Philmont area, so perhaps that will help lower the
temperatures back to the normal range later in the season.
