[Philmont] Dinner in Cimarron?

Depending on how much driving you wish to do, or where you find yourself at dinner time during scenic drives, there are a number of nice restaurants in Angel Fire (and, of course, in Taos). Angel Fire is west of the Ranch on 64.

During the two weeks I spent lurking about in 1999 or 2000, one drive I really liked out of Cimarron began by heading east on Rt. 64. Pass the left hand turn that takes you to Ponil and take the next left (I think-I'm in the office and don't have my maps handy) This takes you through Ted Turner's ranch and through the Valle Vidal section of Carson National Forest to Red River, where there are a number of nice restaurants. The canyon or the creek that makes it starts with a "C". It's the next one east of Ponil creek. Help me out here, guys. If you think the ranch has buffaloes, you should see what Ted owns, if they're near the road when you pass.

Anyway, Red River's a nice town.
