It may be that the routes you are interested in are not in the system
yet or you have to figure out an indirect or "stepping stone" method
to get from one place to another..
I went to Schaeffer's Pass camp information and found these routes:
Homebound Tent City via Tooth Ridge ~6.33 mi.
Crater Lake Camp via Miners Park ~5.02 mi.
Black Mountain Camp via Black Mountain ~4.9 mi.
Cathedral Rock Camp Via Clarks Fork ~4.76 mi.
A route to Beaubien is not posted.
However, with your map spread in front of you, check to see if
Beaubien connects with Crater Lake, Black Mountain or Cathedral Rock.
I took a guess that Beaubien might connect with one of the three
mentioned on the Schaeffer's Pass routes (crater, black Mt or
cathedral) and on the Beaubien camp info page these routes are
posted:
Bear Caves Camp via Trail Peak ~8.29 mi.
Bear Caves Camp via Fowler Pass ~7.47 mi.
Beaubien Camp Side Hike Trail Peak ~4.28 mi.
Crooked Creek Camp via PJ ~3.66 mi.
Black Mountain Camp direct ~2.87 mi.
Wild Horse Camp via Crooked Creek ~5.68 mi.
Agua Fria Camp via Bear Canyon ~6.7 mi.
Agua Fria Camp via Fish Camp ~5.02 mi.
Abreu direct ~7 mi.
North Fork Urraca Camp Via Black Mountain Camp ~6.25 mi.
Lost Cabin Camp Via Fish Camp ~4.53 mi.
Porcupine Camp direct ~2.54 mi.
Mt Phillips Camp via Big Red ~6.85 mi.
So it looks like you can connect Schaeffers to Black Mountain Camp and
then to Beaubien works.
Try this indirect approach to connecting camps to get the routes you want.
As to bird or human miles I don't know how the mileage estimates were
arrived at. Best to pay close attention in any mileage estimate to
the contour lines crossed. Cross a lot of contour lines and a "low"
mileage route may seem plenty long. :-)
