2006 Guidebook to Adventure
Backpacking Stoves
Philmont requires using backpacking stoves. They will save time
throughout
your trek, particularly on wet mornings or when you need to start hiking
early to avoid high afternoon temperatures (see page 10).
You must bring your own stoves. Philmont trading posts carry white gas,
max fuel, stoves, and spare parts. If your crew uses butane, plan to
carry the empty cartridges with you since they create a hazardous
disposal problem in the backcountry.
In the same guidebook -
Packs can be rented. Philmont has tents but you may use your own.

Subject: [Philmont] Stoves
Hello everyone.
I am going on a trek later this month, and I don't want to bring my
stove, because it requires fuel cannisters that cannot be refilled.
Does Philmont have stoves that they rent out to crews?
Thanks
Pete J
