[Philmont] Amtrak

I did the same thing with my crews. We'd meet the night before departure to divvy up crew equipment and stick it in their packs, and do a final weigh-in. If anything happened to one of the crew, I'd have their share of the crew gear, rather than having to chase it down at the moment of departure. It also made departure a lot less stressful...everyone just shows up (with their boots on!) and we leave for the airport.

  I thought that that was a bit dictatorial but they were taking a large passenger van and he packed it in advance, so now I see many advantages to this method.
