[Philmont] Beginnings

Sure here goes:

            First contact your local council and ask how they handle their
council contingents. If you can get your boys in as part of a council trek
that might get you in sooner to Philmont. If not, in the late fall
October/November there will be a Philmont registration time frame, a week
per region, and a make up week for your troop to enter the lottery for a
trek. You will be advised in December if you won a trek for 2009.

            Councils order their trips in August some 22 months before the
trek. Units submit applications about 20 months before.
