[Philmont] Skinning a cat

An old saying from where I grew up in Mississippi: "Don't try to skin a
cat unless the cat is dead!" Otherwise, you're in for a heck of a fight.

Beating a dead horse is an entirely different matter. :-)

When John joins us for Autumn Adventure, I'm sure he
will see lots of hydration systems. My wife and I have Camelbacks
which we use while hiking at Philmont. John will also see water bottles
as several crew members will be using them too. In fact, while John
is cooking that Cajun food, I'll watching him while sippin' from my Nalgene.

What Calvin is saying above is that when it comes time to skin a cat,
you can start at the front end or you can start at the back end or you
can start at any point in between the two ends..
When it's all said and done, what you have is a skinned cat.
And that my friends is the purpose of Scouting, to skin a cat.
If you substitute the words man for cat and well prepared for
skin/skinned in the paragraphs above, you will see the purpose of
Scouting is to prepare boys to becoming a man.
