[Philmont] Back from Philmont. Suggestion/Question

Wow.

I like the suggestion of a an alternate Flag. In the 70's when I was a crew
leader the flag was given to the advisor who carried it most of the trek in
their pack and presented it to the crew leader during/near the end of the
trek ... it wasn't until I returned to the Ranch in 2004 that I saw packs
decorated with Flags. I got mine on the tooth and carry it, folded and in
my pack, to this day. We continue this tradition in our troop today. Our
crew leaders normally put the flag away, or are careful in trying to display
it properly. I'd like to see Philmont revert to this, presenting the flags
at the opening campfire offer too many opportunities for them to become
soiled or unserviceable.

I'll refer the gentleman whose crew signs the flag to the flag code, section
8, without yelling of course .... The actions of this crew are
incomprehensible to me. ... I just don't get it.

I'll refer the gentleman who knew he shouldn't be ordering pizza from the
trail but did so anyway because "it was the crew leader's call" to the
description of his responsibilities as an advisor ... I don't get this
either.

Jim
