I do not know exactly when I started carrying the US Flag in my pack.
Suffice it to say that it has been there on almost every trip Scout or
otherwise for as long as I can remember. More than once I have been
asked about the habit of raising and lowering it when on non-scout
campouts and many times it has been the only US flag that made it on the
trail during Scouting trips.

Last year for the Autumn Adventure trek I was trying to be good with my
pack space and took the flag out. Mr. Gray punished me severely as it
seems the only flag the Texas people carry is their state flag. Seeing
them raise it upside down at Beubein was a lot of fun.(eventually the
fixed the problem) Getting my picture taken with it was a small price
to pay to get to the tooth.

This year the California Contingent (me) will have the US Flag ready and
waiting.
