I was just talking online with a friend of mine who used to work with me at
Philmont. He told me that he was talking to someone else and apparently 11
people were hit by lightning in the Baldy area - some were medevaced out,
but all appear to be okay. Here is an article I found from KOB.com:
http://kob.com/article/stories/S153305.shtml?cat=516. The article says six
people were injured, so obviously it's still early and there are going to be
a lot of rumors going around. The good news is that, like I said, everyone
appears to be okay. If I hear anything else, I'll post it right away. I
guess this serves as an important reminder that the importance of lightning
safety is something that cannot be stressed enough.
