All,
For those of you that are headed out to Philmont this summer I thought I
would pass along a little info on whats on fire and what might be on fire
and what will have bunt down.
This is not first hand information, but does come from a contact there at
the Ranch. I doubt this information is exhaustive, but its what he relayed
at the time.
-Santa Claus camp and the new cabin burnt down; has been back to being a
trail camp for the past several years
-Rich Cabin almost burned down but "half of NM" built trenches around it,
gelled it, and burnt reverse fires away from the cabin last night
-Ponil, Pueblano, and IW are in jeopardy today
This is all North country stuff but the fire(s) estimated at 4000 acres
could easily blossom given the lack of water and forecasted winds.
Maybe bears won't be the biggest threat this summer....
