Basically, its taking out the stuff you know your crew won't eat and
substituting it with something from the swap box (available at most
commissaries).

There are meetings for the crew leader and chaplain's aide in the evening of
your arrival day (after dinner, before the campfire). Having not be able to
attend (I went to the crew advisors' meeting held at the same time) all I know
is that they review the role of the two positions and give the chaplain aide
information in conducting daily devotionals. There isn't a lot of *training*
that can be done in the 45 minutes the meeting takes, its mainly just a
briefing and review.

The scribe meets with the Pholk from News & Photo Dept and review the process
and get assistance in preparing press releases for use at home. It helps if the
scribe has already contacted the local media and knows the format that they
prefer for submitted items.

> 3. Where could we pick up white gas outside of Philmont?

White gas is sold at all backcountry commissaries and at base camp, so there is
no need to pick it up outside of Philmont. If you do wish to purchase it
before you get to the ranch, the sporting goods stores in Raton, Springer and
Cimarron will probably have Coleman fuel.

You change in your tent, but you don't leave your clothes in the tent. The
idea is to get things that *might* smell like food away from you. If you have
food all over your clothes you might want to consider changing at the sump -
while you wash up!

Have a great trek, it should be a memorable experience.

Happy Trails,
