Places to buy batteries in the backcountry are pretty limited, if you need extras, I'd pack them along.
 
My experience with digital cameras is limited to my own, and I know it EATS AA alkaline batteries, they just don't last very long. I would consider using lithium disposable batteries instead of alkalines, they will last much longer.
 
I would also recommend trying a couple of sets of the lithium batteries before you go to determine how long a set will last (and how many sets to take), then make your decision based on that.
