Getting the guide is simply a matter of sending Coop a check. He sends you
an e-mail with an attachment. Reading, understanding and implementing the
tons of valuable information contained in the guide is what takes the time.
It is an invaluable resource in preparing for your trip and is worth 10
times the cost (IMHO). No Coop, I am not going to send you more money.
My advice is to get it ASAP and start reading it. It can only help.
My thanks again to Cooper, Dr. Bob and Wally for their guide and valuable
contributions to this list. Could you guys go out and put out the fires
now?

Feurtado and myself with lots of help from other Philmont advisors and
rangers. When we came back from Philmont after our first trek, we both
tried to capture the lessons learned so other first time advisors would be
more prepared. We never wanted to replace the training provided by your
Philmont ranger, but we felt that our council crews could be better prepared
if they had more info than what is provided to you by Philmont. Since then
the Guide has grown to 78 pages single spaced and is used by several
councils as the basis for their Philmont training. The Guide is available
as a MS Word email attachment and serves as Venturing Crew 1519's primary
fundraiser. We ask for a donation of $10 per copy made. Hope this answers
your question.
